| 18 October 2007: To celebrate the sale of its 1,000th top-of-the-range MODIS hand-held diagnostic tool in the UK, Snap-on Tools, the UK brand leader in diagnostic tools, software and information for the automotive market, made a special presentation of a Snap-on Tools voucher to James Gibb, the diagnostic technician at Beauley Motor Services of Southville, the garage just south of Bristol which placed the 1,000th order.Snap-on Equipment Solutions (EQS), specialists in workshop design, planning and equipment, has announced that it has been formally selected as the equipment programme and facilitation partner for the NAC MG Group in the UK.

Introduced in 2003, MODIS has proved a very successful stand-alone diagnostic and information system aimed at providing a complete diagnostic solution to any UK garage or bodyshop and it continues to be much in demand as the UK garage trade realises the benefits to be gained from upgrading to top-of-the-range hand-held diagnostic tools. NAC MG is the re-built brand that was MG-Rover. The MG TF is the first launch car and is currently being produced in China although will shortly be produced in the UK along with other new vehicles. Longbridge in the UK is operating as the central point for all training, distribution and engineering for NAC MG.
Beauley Motor Services is a very successful independent garage and workshop set up around 15 years ago by Proprietor, John Rogers. It currently employs seven technicians - each with specialist skills - and as a result attracts motorists from a wide area.
James, who has been with Beauley for seven years, explains the reasons behind the purchase of the MODIS: “We have always used hand-held diagnostic tools from Snap-on starting off with the entry level Scanner product some five years ago. From there we have worked up through the Snap-on range with the SOLUS and earlier this year made the decision that the time was right to invest in the top-of-the-range MODIS.
“Being fair, we did not on this occasion undertake any research into competitive products as we have always been very happy with Snap-on’s diagnostics range, the service we have received from them and the regular software updates which we receive.
“You know that you are able to go that step further with MODIS. What we particularly liked was its ability to check out individual components with the oscilloscope and it is also so easy to use. The component testing capability takes you through exactly what you have to do step-by-step. Even members of our staff who have not been formally trained on MODIS are quite capable of using it in its basic mode.
“I am delighted that Beauley Motor Service was the 1,000th UK garage to purchase a Snap-on MODIS. More importantly I am very happy to have MODIS available to me in my day-to-day diagnostic specialist role here.”
