| 08 February 2010: Following the announcement of record sales for 2009, Snap-on Tools, UK brand leader in tools, tool storage and workshop equipment for the automotive aftermarket, this year celebrates its 45th Anniversary in the UK.
“Today we are clear brand leaders in the UK automotive tools market, with a commanding market share,” says Terry Barcham, Snap-on Tools UK Managing Director. Terry is pictured (right) with UK National Sales Manager, Aldo Rodi, alongside a specially created 45th Anniversary display cabinet.
“When Snap-on Tools first opened in the UK in 1965, we had five salesmen and three back-up staff. Today we have 435 Dealer vans on the road and around 120 support people in our purpose built UK headquarters in Kettering with a further 45 field-based personnel. The amazing success that we have achieved has resulted from several factors, including a continual stream of great products created through constant R&D aimed to keep us ahead of the field.
“I am delighted to say that the Snap-on sales network in the UK achieved record sales for 2009, exceeding £100 million for the first time. This is the third consecutive year where our sales have achieved record levels, as well as currency adjusted profits.
“Sales in every product group – tool boxes, hand tools, power tools and hand-held diagnostic equipment have all exceeded their previous highest levels. Our Snap-on franchisee network can be congratulated for showing a remarkable resilience in withstanding the worst recession for more than a decade.
“Looking back 45 years, we are gratified by what Snap-on has achieved in the UK marketplace and to mark this our 45th Year, we are introducing some very exciting new products, such as the latest addition to our diagnostics range – VantagePro, our new cordless impact wrench CTU6850 and our new McLarenSport branded tool box combination – all aimed to ensure that we continue to stay well ahead of the field.”
