SIGNIFICANT NEW 8.2 SOFTWARE DOWNLOAD FROM SNAP-ON

01.05.2008: Snap-on, the UK brand leader in diagnostic tools, software and information for the automotive market has announced the release of the new 8.2 software download for its best selling ‘family’ of handheld diagnostic tools.

“The new 8.2 software has significant productive and profitable key features to help the modern workshop technician deal with the sophisticated technology used on today’s modern vehicles,” says Helen Taylor, UK Marketing Manager for Snap-on Diagnostics. Key features for this update include, expanded vehicle communications software for 16 major vehicle manufacturers including Alfa, Audi, Citroen, Fiat, Ford, Land Rover, Lancia, Mercedes, Nissan, Opel/Vauxhall, Peugeot, Renault, SEAT, Skoda, Toyota and VW.

Vehicle routine maintenance schedules frequently require the use of a diagnostic tool to carry out service procedures and to reset service interval warnings. The 8.2 software takes this into account with added SIR (service interval reset) capabilities, plus injector re programming for Toyota, Renault, Opel/Vauxhall and PSA, and reconfiguration procedures for Ford diesel pump replacement.

Keeping pace with technology, the Snap-on 8.2 software communicates with the new dual wire CAN systems as used on the Fiat Punto Grande and Croma models and this has regeneration instructions for the FAP (fuel additive procedure) used on Peugeot and Citroen models “Our What’s New brochure for the 8.2 update concentrates on what we feel are 10 of the best features delivered in this first update for 2008,” continues Taylor. “These include expanded model year and diagnostic systems coverage plus additional routine service procedures that provide the workshop with the capability to deal with routine service resets and every day events that form part of the daily routine for workshops across the UK.”

The new 8.2 release is available for all models in the ‘family’ of hand-held diagnostic tools from the recently introduced ETHOS and SOLUS models, through to the top of the range MODIS diagnostic platform. Software downloads are delivered in a matter of minutes direct from the Snap-on franchisee van via ScanBay, keeping the modern techncian armed with the latest software to deal with tomorrow’s diagnostic problems.

Editors note: Technicians and Customers can find out more about software downloads for the Snap-on diagnostic ‘family’ by contacting their local Snap-on Franchisee or, alternatively, contacting Scanlines on 0845 6066512, email: ukscanlines@snapontools.co.uk
