| 29 May 2008 : Snap-on Tools, UK market leader in tools, tool storage and workshop equipment for the automotive Aftermarket, has announced the introduction of the Snap-on SOLUS PRO, the second generation of its series of hand-held diagnostic tools for solving problems for the modern workshop technician.
The Snap-on SOLUS PRO replaces the original SOLUS – first introduced in 2005 – as the mid-range model of Snap-on’s best-selling ‘family’ of hand-held diagnostic tools. It has been designed to provide the technician with a much faster performance and more diagnostic data. The new ARM processor boots up in seconds and is ready to go to work immediately. The technician can now navigate his way through the menu much faster than with the earlier model.
SOLUS PRO’s USB host capabilities make it much easier to connect to a PC and printer. This means that you can now display information on screen and even save files to a computer. Hard copy results can also be printed out through the printer.
A new bright back-lit display helps the technician to the see the screen even better, both indoors and outdoors. As a result of trade demand SOLUS PRO also comes with a long lasting rechargeable battery.
SOLUS PRO provides the technician with crucial data much more rapidly. Its large-screen design allows that data to be evaluated at a glance so accurate fault diagnosis can be made more quickly. It comes with the world’s most advanced automotive diagnostics technology, including impressive compact flash memory that dispenses with the need for cartridges.
SOLUS PRO software updates are delivered in a matter of minutes direct from the Snap-on franchisee van via ScanBay, the unique and simple delivery method introduced three years ago. This keeps SOLUS PRO at the leading edge of the fast-moving diagnostics market without the need for cartridges or other physical updates.
“Diagnostics is the fastest-moving and most complex area of the automotive Aftermarket and we want to ensure that all our customers not only have access to the world’s most sophisticated hand-held diagnostic equipment, but also to realise how quick and easy they are to use,” says Terry Barcham, Snap-on Tools European Managing Director. “We are very confident of a very positive response when UK technicians have the opportunity to examine SOLUS PRO and see the benefits of using this exciting new product.”
